Enterprise Application Architect

Role Purpose

The overarching purpose of the Enterprise Application Architect is to establish, drive, and meticulously maintain a modern, standardized enterprise application architecture baseline. In this position, the architect serves as a strategic custodian to ensure that the organization's entire application portfolio remains fully complete, rigorously accurate, consistently classified, and governed. The candidate will ensure that every software asset and system integration directly aligns with strategic business capabilities, clear stakeholder ownership, comprehensive lifecycle status, and stringent corporate governance requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Portfolio Governance & Register Management

• Maintain Portfolio Integrity: Manage and continuously maintain the centralized Application Portfolio Register to ensure high-fidelity visibility across all enterprise software assets.
  
• Lifecycle Tracking: Systematically discover, track, and capture all new applications, platforms, services, integrations, and retired items to reflect the evolving state of the environment.
  
• Baseline Maintenance: Ensure that obsolete or retired applications are systematically decommissioned and permanently removed from active baseline views.
  

Strategic Alignment & Metadata Enrichment

• Capability Mapping: Establish, maintain, and refine continuous application-to-business-capability mapping to ensure technology investments directly support operational goals.
  
• Comprehensive Metadata Management: Drive full metadata completeness for every portfolio asset, capturing key architectural attributes such as purpose, criticality, data classification, hosting environment, interface dependencies, support models, Recovery Time Objective (RTO), Recovery Point Objective (RPO), and overall lifecycle status.
  
• Accountability & Ownership: Document and enforce clear application ownership and operational accountability records across business units and IT departments.
  

Reconciliation, Audit, & Architecture Remediation

• Portfolio Reconciliation: Lead and coordinate periodic reconciliation processes to audit and validate the application portfolio against real-world operational sources and data feeds.
  
• Audit Compliance: Lead evidence collection efforts to satisfy internal enterprise controls, external regulatory reviews, and formal audit and governance checks.
  
• Remediation Initiatives: Proactively perform gap analyses across the application landscape, raising formal remediation initiatives and corrective actions wherever application architecture issues or technical debt are identified.
  

Candidate Qualifications & Skill Requirements

• Total Experience: A minimum of 8 years of hands-on, progressive professional experience in enterprise-level architecture, software design, and portfolio management.
  
• Certification: Formal TOGAF certification is strictly required to ensure standardization across all architectural processes and frameworks.
  
• Architecture Mastery: Deep understanding of application architecture baselines, data classification, RTO/RPO metrics, integration interfaces, and hosting models.
  
• Governance Expertise: Demonstrated capability in conducting portfolio reconciliations, defining metadata structures, collecting audit evidence, and resolving complex application architecture issues.
